Cloud Art
Ever since I was a little girl I have loved looking up at the clouds. Every second they change into a new form with new characters to discover. I’ve imagined the sky to be Gods canvas where he and Mother Nature get together and create… for their pleasure. It’s a piece of art that every person in the world gets to experience. Each canvas has texture, color, lighting, temperature, smell, sound. It makes us feel alive when the sun shines on our face or depressed when the rain never ceases. It is a gift that I have always appreciated and try not to take for granted. This feeling is my inspiration for my newest book, CLOUD A.R.T: – ACCELERATED RATE OF TRANSFORMATION.
What is ACCELERATED RATE OF TRANSFORMATION? It is the speed at which life is constantly changing, especially when it comes to manmade technology. I can’t think of many things in my daily life that isn’t enhanced by technology. I start my day reading the news, journaling, and illustrating on my iPad via Procreate. I drive to work in my Prius Hybrid while watching the display showing my gas fueling the battery. I order my food using an app after getting there using maps. Many times, I waste minutes learning new features of the app. A new upgrade was downloaded and now Im reading tutorials on that. It is a frustrating feeling that leaves me feeling incompetent and useless, especially when I see a younger person just adapt so naturally. It is because of the ACCELERATED RATE OF TRANSFORMATION that many of us don’t look up at the clouds anymore.
This got me thinking, what animals have learned to adapt to change? What tools have these creatures been given to survive in ever changing nature? I believe humans are the most adaptable and impressive being on this planet. But I didn’t want to illustrate human beings in the clouds. I see too many human beings on the ground. CLOUD ART features 10 animals that camouflage, blend, adapt, change, transform in order to survive. The animals featured in cloud A.R.T. are the POLAR BEAR, ARTIC FOX, OWL, LIZARD, OCTOPUS, SEA SQUIRTS, FROG, STICK INSECT, FLATFISH, CATERPILLAR. My wish for this book, Cloud Art is for families to take the time to share in a story time experience. To escape from the rapidly changing world and appreciate the clouds above, or on the pages of our book. Watch the young boy and his dog relax on a hill as the animals float by. My prayer is for people to remain calm during these decades of A.R.T. Do not be overwhelmed by it, but welcome it. When we are open to change, life can show us many new creations we have never seen before.
